UTEP running back Q Wadley “likely out” for Saturday vs. Texas

And the Miners will have to travel to hostile territory without one of their best running backs Q Wadley.

Today, in his weekly press conference, head coach Dana Dimel confirmed that the senior running back is likely out for Saturday’s game after dealing with a toe and foot injury that has hampered him all off-season. There is no timetable for his return.

“Q’s been struggling so much with that toe and foot. He’s just not really prepared, the foot’s not completely healthy, the toe’s not completely healthy,” Dimel said. “He’s not the Q Wadley we all know and love. His game’s not there.”

UTEP’s offense is still in good shape, though, as former Parkland HS stud Deion Hankins went off for over 100 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s win. Dimel said that Hankins will likely get a majority of the carries against Texas with Josh Fields and Willie Eldridge receiving any other touches.
